Charlamagne Tha God Cancels Mental Health Interview

Mental Health has become the prevailing focus in many areas around on world. One such person who has taken an in-depth interest has been a radio personality and talk show host Charlamagne Tha God. Listing his reasons for being interested in normalizing mental health struggles, and erasing the stigmas that become so easily attached to it, as his reason for interest in the topic, Charlamagne is outspoken in regards to the subject.

In production, Charlamagne runs his own company, CThaGod World LLC and co-host of Brilliant Idiots a favorite podcast. He has directed and acted in movies like Bodied (2017), on the run eating (2018) and Grow House (2017) to mention but a few.

Charlamagne Tha God is a writer and has a book titled “Black Privilege” which ranked sixth in the New York Times of bestselling hardback nonfiction on May 7 2017. Another book Charlamagne Tha God has written is titled “Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks On Me”.

Some months ago, Charlamagne sat down to interview rap artist Kanye West, in a session that lasted just short of two hours. The two spent the time discussing Kanye’s recent breakdown and hospitalization following the incident. Kanye had previously expressed having been diagnosed as being bipolar but went on to postulate that his break down was caused by mere sleep deprivation and had nothing to do with him being bipolar.

Following that interview earlier in the year, Charlamagne Tha God thought to schedule another interview with Kanye on TimesTalk during a segment meant to draw greater awareness to mental health, make it seem more normal. The interview was also intended to address how mental health was viewed within the black community and the stigmas that had been attached to it within them.

However, a short two days prior to the highly anticipated interview Charlamagne Tha God canceled the session, announcing his reasons via Twitter for doing so, although he chose not to go too in depth in his explanation. In his Twitter post, Charlamagne admits to having looked forward to the interview but stated that he did not think that such a meeting would be very productive at the given time.

Although there is no confirmed reason as to why Charlamagne chose to cancel the interview on such short notice, media report cites the issue as revolving around Kanye West’s recent visit to the White House and his expression of support for President Trump.
