According to a recent survey conducted by End Citizens United, a margin of 61-30% of citizens in America advocate for an independent inquiry into Russia’s connection with the 2016 Presidential election with 52% believing that Russia was involved while 34% believe otherwise. Additionally, the study also shows that most citizens are unsatisfied with President Trump’s verdict to fire FBI Director James Comey. According to the figures, 51% are dissatisfied with Trump’s decision to fire the FBI Director while 41% support his verdict.
Tiffany Muller, the President and Executive Director of End Citizens United reveals that the public has lost its faith in the government since they believe that the elections had some foreign interference which threatens the democratic foundation upon which the U.S was built. It also further aggravates them that the man in charge fired the individual investigating the case. For this reason, Americans demand an independent investigation to reveal the truth and refurbish their faith and integrity in the government.
The End Citizens in collaboration with Every Voice have initiated an ‘independent inquiry’ that is compelling senators to support an independent investigation to assess if Russia colluded with President Trump in rigging the elections. The campaign has started with petitions, and digital advertisements as well call to senators like Jeff Flake (AZ), Pat Toomey (PA), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Rob Portman (OH), Dean Heller (NV), Ron Johnson (WI) and Steve Daines (MT).
Background Information About End Citizen United
The End Citizens United which represents a grassroots-powered reform committee was created in March 2015 to oppose Citizens United decision to allow unrestricted and undisclosed money as well as external influence into political elections.
The political reform group is making great strides in raising its money, and as of March 2017, it had already raised approximately $ 4 million. The organization revealed to USA TODAY that it anticipates raising $ 35 million to cover the 2018 midterm elections for Congress. In 2016, PAC raised $ 25 million for its first election in operation, and this would be a noteworthy increment. Tiffany Muller revealed that over 100,000 individuals had contributed during the first quarter of the year with 40,000 of them donating for the first time. She further revealed that most of them felt that government is rigged against them favoring individuals who donate more to make pertinent decisions; hence, their way of retaliating is through donating to PAC.
Additionally, Muller also clarified that the Democrats are not happy with President Trump’s win and are ready to oppose his agenda and nominees such as Supreme Court pick, Judge Neil Gorsuch. Recently, End Citizen United urged its donors to contribute $ 500,000 towards the congressional campaign of Democrat Jon Ossoff, who was vying for the first time in Georgia. Jon Ossoff went beyond the Political Reform forecasts and raised $ 4 million for the special election held on April 18 to fill Republican seat of Atlanta.
