Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are the co-owners of Village Media. They established the company in 1970 and have since used it to share critical news with masses. Working as journalists in Phoenix, Arizona, they were always concerned about the well-being of the people in the community. Consequently, they decided to publish stories regarding the atrocities of Joe Arpaio.
A Look at Arpaio
Many may remember Joe Arpaio as the self-proclaimed toughest sheriff in Maricopa County. He has served the county as a law enforcement officer for more than thirty years and has made sure that he is well versed with the policies of running the town as well as the constitution. For the years he has worked in the county, Joe Arpaio has been charged in many instances. Always fast to charge immigrants even without a cause, he has made it his business to interfere with the proceedings of normal judiciary systems. Over and above, Joe Arpaio has received tremendous support from the government of President Trump even with his misconduct.
Perhaps the worst case that Arpaio has been linked to is working with the jury to arrest Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. In the evening of August 2007, deputies from the county of Maricopa made their way into the homes of Lacey and Larkin. The two Media Village leaders were arrested on unclear grounds. However, they did not resist. Later into their arrest, they discovered that Joe Arpaio was all along behind their misfortunes. At that moment, they were behind the cells already. Now surprisingly, they had a huge fan base that rioted for them to be released. The duo was out of prison within twenty four hours.
That moment marked the onset of Joe Arpaio’s problems as he has since faced the harsh hands of the justice system from different angles. For starters, he was accused for racial profiling. Then, he faced charges on the account of instigating baseless war in correctional facilities. Over and above that, Joe Arpaio has faced the hands of the law several times. It is also critical to point out that for the number of times he has been accused of misconduct; he failed to show up in court. That aggravated the judges’ decision to render him disrespectful to the justice department.
Beyond that, Lacey and Larkin have decided to delve into charity by establishing a strong foundation for the support of immigrants. Through their Lacey and Frontera Fund, the duo has managed to help others lead normal lives.
